An intercessor 🤍

God is no longer the man upstairs.

Israel’s method of reconciliation was truly fascinating. There was a demarcation between the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place. The High Priest could only atone for the sins of people after atoning for himself. Asides from how stressful this sounds, think of how expensive too… all those goats and rams being slaughtered.

And still, the blood of animals was too weak for the power of sin over mankind.

Many of these things can prove weird to understand. Truly, the ways of God are beyond comprehension but we serve a God that can and wants to answer our questions so, yay!

Moving on, what then? The Israelites of old could only afford rams and goats to pay for their sins but that was not quite enough. Jesus came to truly atone for our sins because we could not but what does that even mean? What this means is that we no longer owe death and sin has no power over us. We no longer have to answer, ‘yes sire,’ when it calls us, like a slave that has no rights.

But it gets really interesting from here on out…

The sacrifice of Jesus, our intercessor, means that God is no longer a mystery to us. In Jesus, we have seen God. John 1:14 lets us know that the Word who was God (verse 1), became flesh and dwelt with us.

If this is true…

THEN GOD DIED FOR US. God sought an intercessor to stand in the gap and that man was Himself – the man Jesus. Jesus, who is really God but as a man, makes it possible to understand God. God is no longer the vague man upstairs whose ways are beyond comprehension, He came downstairs. He lived like a man, like you and me. Now we have the power and the true knowledge of Him right there in the Gospels and can understand it by the Spirit. We are complete. We are restored. Like it was in the beginning.

Hebrews 1:13 says:

‘The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command.’

Do you now see? That in the end, God = Jesus. God Himself came down to stand in the gap? That God Himself died to make us right again with Him despite our willful disobedience through Adam? He gave Himself as the sacrifice for our sins. What a Father.

And He never stops calling to you, He has done all He can, HE DIED! Still, it is really left for you to accept. A gift is not really a gift if you have to pay for it. The gift of salvation only requires that you ACCEPT it. Mind you, this acceptance is one that is proven daily by actions, for faith without works is dead.

Will you accept? Romans 10:9 clarifies:

‘If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

All you have to do is believe and confess accordingly.

Shalom ❤🕊✨
