Fasting Day 03 – Wrong move.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time
are not worthy to be compared with the glory
which shall be revealed in us.
Romans 8:18

You see this Bible verse up here ๐Ÿ‘†, that’s what I’m using to hold body throughout today. I made a teeny-weeny mistake yesterday when I broke my fast by eating a food that makes me purge (not telling you the name ๐Ÿ˜‚). The repercussion was me emptying my stomach of everything that was in it.

Not the best way to start today’s fast.

I wake up on the right side of my bed; no dreams, just a good feeling. This mood changes after several trips to the toilet and I realize that today will not be as rosy as yesterday. Based on some information I have collated from my group of friend, I have some tips for you when you fast:

  1. When you break your fast, do not do it with solid food; start with something light. More importantly, do not rush your food. The friend that did this suffered from severe stomach pains all night.
  2. There’s no space for grudges or any kind of quarrel with anyone. We’re fighting against principalities and powers here. FOCUS.
  3. If you can afford to, try to stay away from the kitchen and activities that will bring you close to food. The friend that did this ended up tasting rice and started panicking. ๐Ÿ˜‚
  4. The energy around you matters a lot; if you can afford to be isolated or stay off social media, please do.
  5. Do not try to compensate for the meals that you missed; eat what portion will satisfy you and take a lot of water.
  6. Prepare ahead what you’ll have when you break your fast. The friend who failed to do this has started seeing double (the friend = me ๐Ÿ˜…).

N.B – Here’s a YouVersion Bible Plan on fasting that highlights Biblical standpoints on the topic. I’ve found it very mind opening and I trust you will too. Click here to get started.

I spend most of my time today on a single project at work. I sign off at 4 to get into my Bible. Something in Romans 4 jumps at me and I’ll share with you in a second.
Verse 18 – 21 relates how Abraham ‘hoped against hope’ in believeing God’s promise about his becoming the father of all nations. Now, realize that this was no holy conception, Isaac came to be through the traditional method of procreation. At 100 years old, Abraham knew that his body was as good as dead and so was Sarah’s womb but his faith did not waver because he knew that if God said it, then He would do it. So he acted on that.

This was a normal process with a miraculous result. In practising faith, we must know that faith is not expressed in the folding of arms as we wait for God to come through but doing everything with trust and reliance on God.

Faith should inspire works.
Trust God’s ability but play your part as well.

Maranatha

At 6pm, I genuinely feel very faint but you know how the Holy Spirit works, I get charged right up! The most amazing thing happens as I pray when I get a confirmation of a Word I’d read earlier in the day.

See, it’s important to focus less on your physical hunger and more on your spiritual hunger. I almost lost concentration today as I prayed because I was not just hungry but empty.
Still, you have set your expectations, what you want to receive from God; the present ‘suffering’ cannot be compared to what God is doing in your life this period. Believe this and act on it. Remember, “No discipline is enjoyable while it is happeningโ€”itโ€™s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.” (Hebrews 12:11)
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that will upgrade your spiritual life.

I have this song for you:

Holy ghost, light within my soul
Holy ghost, fire in my bones
Holy ghost, power in my life
Holy ghost, You and I will change the world!

There is an active partnership between you and the Holy Spirit. Personalize this verse from Acts 10 and affirm it as much as you can:

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth (insert your name) with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus (insert your name) went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him (insert your name).
(Acts 10:38)

I leave you with this prayer: This year is the year of Greater Light; if there is light then you cannot be confused. You will take the right steps in the right direction and be all that God has called you to be. Amen. ๐Ÿ™

You can watch a rebroadcast of the prayers here:

Shalom my friend, I will see you tomorrow
Stay strong in Christ โ™ฅ๐Ÿ•Šโœจ
